On the day of minicamp, the Kansas City Chiefs made a move to fasten their kicker of the long run, signing Harrison Butker into a contract extension, the team announced on Twitter.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the details of the deal soon after the announcement: 5 years, roughly $20 million to the pick, who published a statement View image on Twitter
Butker’s road to this instant at the same point wasn’t a sure bet while he’s known to possess one of the legs at the NFL.
After being drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2017 and waived in favor of Graham Gano, Butker was signed to the practice squad of the team in which he was picked up by the Chiefs.
In his very first match as a Chief throughout the 2017 season, Butker completed a 43-yard field goal try to raise the Chiefs within the Redskins 29-20.
To date, Butker, 25, has converted 62-of-69 career field objectives, including heading 24-of-27 at 2018, good enough for the 12th-best completion percent (88.9) at the league.
Butker has also demonstrated an ability to perform at the clutch on several occasions. Against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game, Butker famously nailed his only field goal of the night: a 39-yarder to send the match into overtime.
